Ian Sheffield GAICD
Principal Consultant
Ian Sheffield is one of Australia's most experienced aviation executives, with more than 25 years in senior leadership roles spanning helicopter operations, aerial work, MRO, regulatory compliance, and aviation commerce.
As Chief Operating Officer of McDermott Aviation Group for 24 years, Ian led the organisation through a period of extraordinary growth from a small regional operator to an international group. In that role he negotiated major government contracts, managed compliance across Australian, PNG, US, and European regulatory frameworks, and served as Contract Manager with the National Aerial Firefighting Centre (NAFC) from its inception in 2003.
Through Senex Aviation Solutions, Ian now provides that depth of experience to a select group of clients — from emerging operators to established groups — on a consulting and embedded commercial basis. He holds a Graduate membership of the Australian Institute of Company Directors (GAICD).
